Check the trouble code chart for the problem. After the inspection lamps have flashed 3 times, turn the diagnostic mode selector fully counterclockwise. Turn the Diagnostic mode selector fully clockwise. To start the diagnostic procedure, Start the engine and warm it up to normal operation temperature.Malfunctions related to fuel and emission control systems can be diagnosed using the self diagnostic codes from mode II.The KTS340 is an excellent blend of in-depth diagnostic ability and features to carry out servicing such as service. This new diagnostic tester is an ideal tool for anyone that currently services vehicles and wants to add excellent diagnostic ability to their services. On on California models, the check engine light will come on when the ignition switch is turned on or in mode I when the emission system malfunctions with the motor running. All-in-one solution for ECU diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance. When the ignition switch os turned off during the diagnosis, in each mode, and turned back on again after the power has dropped off completely, the diagnosis will automatically return to mode I.Count the number of flashes to find out the mode you are in, then turn the diagnostic mode selector to fully counterclockwise. Turn the diagnostic mode selector on the ECU fully clockwise and wait until the inspection lamps flash. Turn the ignition switch to the on position. We then disconnected the DPF Pressure sensor and viola! A DTC is now present indicating our suspicion was correct.

Using a specialist piece of software we were able to reflash the correct software version onto the engine computer.
In depth ecu diagnostics update#
Armed with our suspicions we checked to see if a software update using the main dealer tooling ODIS was capable however the only option we had was to carry out a update via a SVM code therefore we checked the TPI's and found a document however this did not relate to our engine ecu model or software version.Īt this point the dealer would have no choice but to replace the computer at a very costly £1200. This is a big red flag as this often means that someone, likely the seller has intentionally removed fault codes from the engine computer stopping the engine light coming on.

We went back to check the differential pressure sensor and unplugged the sensor hoping for a fault code to be entered into the engine computer however there was no codes being entered! ? Next a extended road test was carried out monitoring multiple data streams to check the vehicles capability to carry out a regeneration which we found everything was in order for regeneration to take place however the engine computer would not allow regeneration. Due to the ongoing issues issues customer had we carried out a visual inspection of the DPF to ensure no thermal damage had taken place from previous attempts at repair, we can confirm the DPF is in good working order. Next we verified this sensor reading using our specialist tooling and confirmed the sensor reading was correct indicating our issue was elsewhere.

We found at idle the backpressure was 50mbar, much higher than we would like indicating a partially full DPF. We then proceeded to check live data parameters of the particulate filter. We started by carrying out a full system scan of which we originally found no fault codes present. (Bear this in mind) The customer also advised the original DPF had a hole in and was replaced for a new one. The customer look around the engine bay to find the DPF Pressure sensor actually DISCONNECTED however no check engine light or flashing glow plug light. It has had multiple new DPF Pressure sensors, Oxygen Sensors, DPF & a EGR Valve in the hope to rectify the issue.Īs always questioning the customer about how the fault started is always crucial and he informed us that he was driving it home after purchasing the vehicle and the DPF warning light illuminated on the dash. This vehicle has an issue with the particulate filter warning light continuously illuminating in short spaces of time. We recently had in a SEAT ALTEA which has been to quite a few garages and has had over £2000 spent to NOT FIX the vehicle.
